Mr. Civil Rights

Learn about the local connections in the life of Thurgood Marshall

Join Peerless Rockville at the Rockville Memorial library for a movie and discussion of Thurgood Marshall and integration in public schools. In 1954, Marshall argued before the Supreme Court of the United States in the landmark case “Brown vs. the Board of Education”. That story started here in Rockville with Marshall’s involvement in another case, “Gibbs vs. Broome”, arguing for equal pay for Black teacher at Rockville Colored Elementary School. Come out to watch “Mr. Civil Rights: Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP” (Documentary, 59 minutes), followed by a guided discussion.

Movie Screening will be located on the first floor of Rockville Memorial Library.

Seating is limited.
