The Glenora Tributary is one of several perennial streams that feed Watts Branch, a tributary of the Potomac. The highly impervious nature of the watershed led to enlargement and bank erosion, thereby affecting the stream habitat and water quality. Peerless Rockville commends The City of Rockville’s Department of Public Works for undertaking a state-of-the-art stream restoration project to protect the highly eroded stream and enhance area wetlands. In addition to extensive tree and shrub plantings, stream and forest habitats and recreational areas were protected. The project team turned
a rarely used overgrown parcel of land into a beautiful passive park while helping to achieve water quality goals.
