A Woman’s War: Ladies’ Aid in the Mid-Atlantic Region during the Civil War

During the Civil War, women were not allowed to enlist in the army or the navy (though some did serve by hiding their identities). Yet millions of women provided various support services to the military in various ways. Peerless Rockville welcomes U. S. Park Ranger Bryan A. Cheeseboro of the National Park Service’s Civil War Defenses of Washington, DC for an illustrated presentation about several of these women and their stories.
