Lockie and Irwin Stevens Porter designed a new stone house that would envelop and expand the existing 1838 structure, surrounded by landscaped grounds and formal gardens by John H. Small III. The result is the Neo-Classical Revival mansion that today is the star of Rockville’s Civic Center.
