On Monday, October 13 at 6 pm, The City of Rockville released the 104 page King Farm Farmstead Park Masterplan Proposal. There is discussion and possible adoption by Mayor and Council on October 20, 2025 at 7:10 pm!
Peerless Rockville has long advocated that adaptive reuse is vital for this significant property. However, this proposal asserts expensive and irreversible renovations without well-defined purpose or partners at this property, and gives little opportunity for the public to review and provide input before adoption.
Peerless Rockville encourages residents to read this document and share their thoughts on the King Farm Farmstead Park by sending a letter to mayorcouncil@rockvillemd.gov or appear at Community Forum before Mayor & Council on Monday October 20th at 6:50 pm.
Sample letter/testimony:
I, [Name, Address], respectfully request that the City of Rockville delay adoption of the Master Plan for the King Farm Farmstead to allow adequate time for community review and to hold a public hearing or formal comment period.
The draft plan proposes permanent changes to King Farm Farmstead Park that should be fully reviewed by the public to ensure transparency, responsible historic resource planning, and genuine community participation. The Rockville public deserves the time and opportunity to comment before costly and irreversible renovations alter the historic character of this landmark property.
Although the document uses the language of preservation, the scope of its proposed interventions represents a fundamental transformation of the historic site. This plan requires greater attention to the property’s historic resources and a broader opportunity for public engagement before any actions are approved.
Insert any of your own thoughts on the MasterPlan.
