We recognize the need to address racial inequities as we reflect on the state of our society. We acknowledge, respect, and appreciate the contributions that black Americans have made to shape our city, county, and country. We denounce acts of violence, racism, and injustice towards people of color. Listening to each other’s stories and understanding our history clarifies how our modern life came to be and are valuable tools in fighting implicit bias in our cultural memory.
Black History is Rockville History. Peerless Rockville seeks to be a pillar in our community, protecting and preserving the historic sites and structures, and to be a leader in giving a voice to the yet to be told and undervalued stories of its residents and surrounding communities. In 2018, Peerless established the Nancee Simonson Fund for African American Education. We pledge to continue to devote resources and energy to sharing these important pieces of Rockville’s heritage and invite all to join with us.
