2019 Nominating Committee Report

The Nominating Committee recommends the following board members and officers for service on the Board of Peerless Rockville. Additional written nominations signed by five Peerless members may be filed with the secretary prior to the election. The election will be held at the 2019 Peerless Rockville Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 6 at 6:30 pm at the Red Brick Courthouse.

For re-election to a two-year term as director, July 2019 through June 2021.

David Hill: Dave is West End resident with a history of service to Peerless Rockville, the City of Rockville and the community. He has served on numerous Rockville boards and commissions including the Planning Commission and Board of Appeals. Dave is a Sr. System Analyst at Westat. His interest in history is long-held as evidenced by his undergraduate history degree.

John Becker: John is a long time Rockville resident who lives at the Americana Center. He is an independent contractor with a focus on environmental matters. John’s community service includes chairing the City’s Environmental Commission and serving on the Boards and Commissions Task Force. He is a sports car enthusiast and enjoys cycling.

Hannelore Quigley: Hannelore, 6th generation Rockville, lives in Rockshire. She volunteers with local historical non-profits including the Rockville Cemetery Association. She currently works as Marketing Director for a software company in Potomac. In her spare time, Hannelore enjoys flying planes and catching up on sleep.

For re-election to a one-year term as director, July 2019 through June 2020.

Morgan Sullivan: Morgan is a long-time historic preservation advocate and practitioner.  In addition to the renovation of their home at 16 Thomas Street in the West End, his family has restored historic homes in North Carolina, Tennessee and Bethesda. Morgan sits on a number of local non-profit boards, mentors youth and enjoys being outside with his family

For election to a two-year term as director, July 2019 through June 2021.

Heather Moore: Heather serves as the photographic archivist in the Senate Historical Office.  She has advanced degrees in Library Sciences and History and studied Archaeology as an undergraduate. Heather lives in Horizon Hill where she is involved in community activities ranging from creating the neighborhood’s first listserv to organizing meetings and events.

Selwyn Ramp: Selwyn is an East Rockville resident who purposefully moved to the city because of its history and cultural mix. He works as the Assistant Project Director for Museum on Main Street at the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Service. Born and raised in the Netherlands. he enjoys working with a variety of age groups, nationalities and cultures.

Kate Scott: Kate serves as Associate Historian in the Senate Historical Office and is a visiting lecturer at Cornell University in Washington. She has a Ph.D. in U.S. History and is the author of Reining in the State: Civil Society and Congress in the Vietnam and Watergate Eras. Kate lives in Lincoln Park where she is active with the civic association.

Dia H. Snowden: Dia is Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Snowden Funeral Home located on North Washington Street. She is responsible for oversight and the day to day administrative and financial activities and planning for this more than one hundred year old historic family-owned funeral establishment. She currently resides in Gaithersburg.

Remaining on the board to complete their terms ending June 2020: Paul Hillstrom, Patrice Lucid, Erin Mahony , Paul Newman and Harry Pskowski.

For Election as Officers of the Board of Directors.

For election to President for a two-year term (2019-2021): David Hill

For election to Vice-President for a one-year term (2019-2020): Paul Hillstrom

For election to Secretary for a one-year term (2019-2020): Harry Pskowski

For re-election as Treasurer for a two-year term: (2019-2021): John Becker

Pat Wolff and Suzan Pitman recommend that the board of Directors propose expanding the number of members on the Board of Directors from eleven (11) to up to thirteen (13) as follows:

ARTICLE IV

Section 1

The governing body of Peerless Rockville shall be the Board of Directors. The Board shall have up to thirteen (13)  eleven (11) members , all of whom are directors of the corporation and shall be members of the corporation.  Four (4) of the thirteen (13) eleven(11) directors serve as officers. ………

Section 2

…… The terms of the directors shall be staggered so that the elections are held each year for either six (6) or seven (7 ) five (5) directors.

Assuming Board approval, notice of the proposed change will need to be made available to the membership at least 15 days in advance of the annual meeting. The change would become effective with a two-thirds vote of those present and voting at the annual meeting.
