In the spring of
2008, with the assistance of Peerless Rockville, graduate
students from George Washington University conducted a
semester-long survey of the history and development of Twinbrook.
Topics included the career of developer Joseph Geeraert, the
platting and development of the neighborhood, house plans, home
improvement, landscaping, civic organizations, and a social
profile of neighborhood residents. At the conclusion of the
project, students shared their studies with the community at the
Twinbrook Library on May 1, 2008 with a presentation entitled
“Twinbrook: The Quintessential Postwar Suburb.” Peerless
Rockville has made available copies of the students’ final
papers for all those interested in learning more about the
Twinbrook neighborhood and Rockville’s recent past.
